Our Pediatric Team

Timothy Doran, M.D.
Chairman of Pediatrics

Dr. Doran received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.  He completed his pediatric residency at the Montefiore Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he also served as chief resident.  He then received fellowship training in General Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar.  Dr. Doran has worked in private practice in Baltimore for many years as well as held numerous leadership roles in the region, including President of the Maryland Chapter of the AAP and Medical Director of the Sexual Abuse Treatment Program in Baltimore.  He has been in practice at GBMC since 1999 where he also assumes the position of Chairman of Pediatrics.

Julie Yeh, M.D.
Assistant Chairman of Pediatrics

Dr. Yeh completed her undergraduate work at Harvard University and received her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine.  Following her internship and residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital, she joined GBMC in 2002 where she worked as a pediatric hospitalist and ED physician for four years.  Subsequently, she joined the outpatient pediatric department where she continues to practice general pediatrics.  She also holds a part-time faculty appointment at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she teaches medical students.

Theresa T.H. Nguyen, M.D.

Dr. Nguyen completed her undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins University.  She received her medical degree and masters in health policy from New York University.  She completed her pediatric residency and Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Dr. Nguyen has worked as a health policy analyst as well as a clinician.  She has been with the pediatric practice at GBMC since 2000 and is an assistant professor in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Rachel Plotnick, M.D.

Board Certified in Pediatrics with a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics,  Dr. Plotnick has special interests in infant nutrition and child psychiatry.  She received her medical degree from the University of  Maryland School of Medicine and went on to complete her Pediatric Residency at Johns Hopkins. 
 
Prior to joining GBMC, Dr. Plotnick was a member of an eight member private practice located in Ellicott City, MD that cared for children from birth to age 21.

Bethlehem (Betty) Abebe-Wolpaw, MD

Dr. Abebe-Wolpaw recently joined the GBMC Pediatric Group. She earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed her residency at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), including a year as a Chief Resident. Prior to joining GBMC, she was on faculty at UCSF as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics. Board-certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Abebe-Wolpaw practiced outpatient pediatrics and pediatric hospitalist medicine at both UCSF and its pediatric community affiliate, ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton, CA. She was primarily a clinician educator involved with education at the resident and medical student level.

John Boscia, M.D.
Emeritus

Dr. Boscia received his undergraduate degree from Duke University.   He attended medical school at George Washington School of Medicine.  He completed his pediatric internship and residency at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Washington DC, where he also served as chief resident.  His professional experience includes a three year position with the public health service working as a community pediatrician in various clinics in Baltimore.  He was Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital for seven years before arriving to GBMC in 1990 where he served as assistant chairman of the department for numerous years and currently practices general pediatrics.
