| Rodney Williams, MD, JD
Rodney Williams, MD, JD, has served as Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, GBMC HealthCare since 1999 and previously served as Vice President of Medical and Legal Affairs from 1995 to 1999. Dr. Williams, a member of the GBMC HealthCare Executive Team, holds a medical license in Maryland and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1996.
As Chief Medical Officer at GBMC, Dr. Williams’ responsibilities include medical staff development and recruitment, quality improvement, patient safety, care management, and graduate medical education, as well as serving as the administration’s liaison to the medical staff. Dr. Williams also serves as the Chief Legal Officer and manages the professional liability insurance program and organizational risk.
Prior to joining GBMC, Dr. Williams served as President, Healthcare Plan and Vice President of Medical Affairs for St. Francis Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii; Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chairman of the Emergency Room Committee at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, Pennsylvania and Medical Director for the Port Allegheny Asbestos Health Project.
He also has served as a physician at GBMC’s Weinberg Community Health Center, the Hospice of Baltimore and at the Hunt Manor practice. Prior medical practice includes Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, as well as Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Williams is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Law, the University of California School of Medicine and Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology. His post-graduate training was conducted at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts (Medical Oncology Fellow), Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (Clinical Fellow in Medicine) and University of Colorado (Intern and Resident). He is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine.
