Dr. Clair Francomano heads the adult genetics program. Her clinical expertise centers on the diagnosis and management of a variety of genetic conditions in adult patients. Dr. Francomano has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of hereditary connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos, Marfan, Loeys-Dietz and Stickler syndromes, as well as skeletal dysplasias and other causes of short stature.

What Are Some Reasons for a Genetics Consultation?
  • A known or suspected genetic condition
  • A family history of a genetic condition
  • Birth defect(s)
  • Developmental disabilities

What is involved in a Genetics Consultation?

During your initial visit, Dr. Francomano and her team will gather a detailed medical and family history. She will examine you and with permission, photographs may be taken. At the end of the visit, findings are reviewed; a diagnosis is established, confirmed or ruled out; and any management recommendations are made. A typical new patient visit will last 2 hours.

How Do I Schedule An Appointment?

To schedule an initial consultation, please complete our pre-visit questionnaire. Once we receive this information, we will send a confirmation via email. Please do not send us additional pages with medical history information.

How Long Will It Take to Get an Appointment?

We are scheduling new patient appointments approximately 30 months ahead of time. We also maintain a cancellation list and can offer earlier appointments if they become available as the result of a cancellation. If you would like to be added to the cancellation list, please notify us at the time you make your appointment.

Important Information for the Day of Your Appointment

Please arrive 20 minutes before your appointment time for check-in and registration. There will be administrative paperwork to complete upon arrival. If you have never been to GBMC before, we also recommend you give yourself extra time for finding GBMC and our office. Failure to arrive early may result in less time with Dr. Francomano. Please note: if you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment time, we may have to reschedule your appointment and you will be charged a missed appointment fee.

As our exam and waiting room space is limited, please only bring up to two other family members and/or support persons with you to the appointment. Also, unless your child has an appointment, we ask that you do not bring children to your appointment. If you must bring your child to your appointment, we ask that another responsible adult be present to supervise your child.
