Parent Education

Education is the key to success and confidence when it comes to making decisions for your family. GBMC's Parent Education offers a full-range of classes and services to help prepare every family for their newest addition. From birth to postpartum doula services to pregnancy yoga, there's something that fits every new parents' needs.

Pregnancy Information:

We recommend this class to be taken as soon as a pregnancy has been confirmed and as late as your 20th week of pregnancy. Sessions include physical changes and discomforts of pregnancy, wellness and nutrition, fetal testing and results, warning sign of pre term labor, what to expect in labor and delivery, the role of your partner , doula support and postpartum recovery adjustments. Wow!! What a great way to prepare yourself for the upcoming months.

Weekender Class:

This weekend format of the Childbirth Education class allows couples to complete their labor and delivery education in one day. Great class for parents with a busy work schedule or for those who just like to get it done. Content includes phases and stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, positioning for comfort, the role of your partner/doula support, and medication options. A tour of the obstetrical area is included.

Pregnancy Yoga:

Prepare your mind and body for your upcoming birth. Increase your flexibility, strengthen your body, build your confidence, and relax with the learned techniques of pregnancy yoga. Great to take anytime during your pregnancy with your doctor's approval.

Infant Care Workshop:

Gain hands on newborn knowledge in the areas of handling, feeding, changing, soothing and playing with your newborn baby. Learn when to call the pediatrician, how to administer medication and childproof your home.

Infant CPR:

This 2 hour class has been designed for all parents and care providers of an infant age newborn through 1 year of age. Class content includes infant CPR and first aid for choking victims. Household safety, pool safety and childproofing will be reviewed. We strongly encourage full participatation for all parents with a baby in the NICU being discharged on a monitor or with health concerns.
