Services Offered - Oncology Support Services

Primary services are provided by the Oncology Support Team:

  • Psychosocial support
  • Counseling
  • Referrals to appropriate community resources
  • Patient handbook

In addition to these primary services, the Oncology Support Services Center houses a Cancer Resource Center, which is designed to address the vast array of cancer related informational and educational needs of patients and families. It includes:

  • Books
  • Videos
  • Pamphlets
  • Journal articles
  • Internet resources

GBMC staffs a Patient Navigator. This person helps patients and their caregivers access and utilize resources to help with diagnosis and associated challenges.

GBMC offers women the chance to participate in the American Cancer Society's Look Good Feel Better program. This is a national public service that helps women undergoing cancer treatments cope with the appearance-related side effects, and women are given one free makeup kit. The program is held the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and is free to GBMC and non-GBMC patients. Call Laura at 443-849-2037 to register.
