Target Clinics™ Expand To Greater Baltimore Region GBMC Partnering To Provide Medical Oversight For Target Clinics
BALTIMORE, Md. – August 13, 2007 – Just in time to get students healthy and ready to go back to school and to treat those pesky allergies, guests in the greater Baltimore region will now have the convenience of receiving quality healthcare at their local Target.
This week, Target (NYSE: TGT) opened four new Target Clinics, with Greater Baltimore Medical Center providing medical oversight to nurse practitioners and a medical director for each site through Greater Baltimore Medical Associates, a GBMC-owned physician practice.
Target Clinic offers guests convenient, no appointment necessary, visits with a licensed nurse practitioner. Guests will also enjoy a comfortable, welcoming environment with spacious exam rooms, as well as a private waiting room. The nurse practitioners at each Target Clinic can exercise medical judgment, make diagnoses and prescribe treatments for many common minor ailments. In addition, GBMC physicians will provide quality oversight of the nurse practitioners and will be available to consult regarding patient care issues. Target Clinic accepts many major insurance health plans.
Target Clinic will offer care for a variety of patient needs including medical services (colds and coughs, skin rashes, blood pressure checks, flu immunizations, tetanus shots, treatment for strep throat, ear infections) and minor trauma (minor burns and insect stings/bites). Patients who may require advanced care that is not available at Target Clinic may use, as one of their choices, a dedicated GBMC physician referral line (1-866-314-GBMC) where they can arrange for follow-up care or appointments.
“We are looking forward to this partnership and to providing the medical oversight for this exciting new initiative at Target,” said Steven Twaddle, vice president of GBMA. “GBMC has a long history of providing high quality medical care for patients across the region, and Target is a leader in the retail industry.”
“Our plan is to provide people with convenient care for minor problems and to connect them with a primary care physician if they do not already identify with one,” Twaddle added.
The new Target Clinics opened on Sunday, August 5 at the following locations:
Bel Air - 580 Marketplace Drive
Medical Director: Susan Schrock, M.D.
Ellicott City - 4390 Montgomery Rd.
Medical Director: Sylvia Chang, M.D
Towson - 1238 Putty Hill Ave
Medical Director: Sarah Whiteford, M.D.
Cockeysville/Timonium - 9901 York Rd
Medical Director: Robin Motter-Mast, M.D.
A fifth Target Clinic with GBMC medical oversight is scheduled to open this fall in Aberdeen.
