Our Team- Greater Baltimore Lymphedema & Rehabilitation Center
Experts at the Greater Baltimore Lymphedema and Rehabilitation Center have specialized training in lymphedema management. Its experienced therapists are certified by completing over 165 hours of training in complete decongestive therapy (CDT) as well as being experienced OTs and PTs. The Center is certified by the National Lymphedema Network (NLN).
Alan L. Kimmel, MD Medical Director of the Greater Baltimore Lymphedema & Rehabilitation CenterDr. Kimmel has been the Medical Director of the Lymphedema & Rehabilitation Center since 2005. He has completed comprehensive training at the Klose Lymphedema Certification Program at Harvard Medical School. He is a 1979 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine for many years. Since his move to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 2001, he has been an attending physician at the Greater Baltimore Wound Care Center. In that setting, Dr. Kimmel recognized the huge unfilled need for care for lymphedema patients. He became the driving force behind the creation of the Greater Baltimore Lymphedema and Rehabiliation Center which opened in 2005. It has rapidly become one of the nations leading referral centers for complex lymphedema patients. Dr. Kimmel is Division Chief of General Internal Medicine since 2007; Vice Chairman, Department of Medicine GBMC, 2006-2007;attending physician in the Hyperbaric Medicine Center since 2009 and also maintains a clinical Internal Medicine practice at GBMC.

Virginia Moratz, OTR, CHT, CLT Director of the Greater Baltimore Lymphedema & Rehabilitation CenterVirginia Moratz holds a degree in psychology and is a 1971 occupational therapy graduate of Boston University. She is renowned as a therapist of 39 years experience, leader and educator. She has been a board-certified hand therapist since 1991. She was trained in lymphedema management at Klose-Norton Training and Consulting in 1998 and received the Recognition of Excellence Award, the highest honor awarded from the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association.
Nicole Sansone, DPT, CLT-LANA Nicole Sansone graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She completed her DPT at University of Maryland at Baltimore. She has been a practicing therapist for 7 years. Nicole has served as secretary for the Central District of the Virginia Physical Therapy Association. She received her lymphedema training from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. Nicole achieved certification with the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) in 2009. She joined the team as a senior therapist at the Center in March 2009. In addition to providing her expertise and care of Lymphedema, she has a special interest and experience in Oncology Rehabilitation.
Kim Keller, PTA, LMT, CLTKim Keller graduated from Towson University in Maryland with a degree in Natural Science. In 2000 she became a licensed massage therapist and continued following her interests with a degree as a physical therapist assistant in 2005. She has enjoyed working with pediatrics and has expanded the therapeutic setting to include the outdoors with a certification as a professional ski instructor specializing in teaching disabled skiers. Kim earned her certification as a Lymphedema therapist with Klose Training and Consulting, LLC in April 2009. She joined the Center team in February 2009. In addition to providing expert care to lymphedema patients, she has been sought out for her highly tuned skills in Orthopedic Rehabilitation.
Kelli Y. Austin, PT, DPT, CLTKelli Austin graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology 2004. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Temple University 2007. She completed her Lymphedema training at the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and earned her certification through the Norton School of Lymphatic Studies in March 2009. Kelli has additional training and experience in cancer rehabilitation and is a certified Cancer Rehabilitation Specialist. She has lent her experience to the development our Center's Oncology Rehabilitation Program here at GBMC.
Karen Granzier, OT, CLTKaren Granzier is a 1981 Occupational Therapy graduate of Towson University. She has been a member of the GBMC Healthcare system since 1986, providing care to inpatients as well as outpatients and those homebound. She has worked with orthopedic, neurology and infant NICU patients. She has added the credentials of Certified Lymphedema Therapist in August of 2011, receiving her extended education from Klose Training & Consulting, LLC. Karen currently serves as a liaison between the Lymphedema Center and GBMC inpatients to ensure coordination and quality of care for those in need of our specialized care. Her many years of clinical experience in a full gamut of rehabilitation makes her a valuable addition to our team.
Dawn Roelofs, RNDawn Roelofs is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a bachelor's degree in the Science of Nursing, and is currently pursuing an advanced degree. She has been nursing since 1999. She obtained her certification in wound care (WCC) and also the PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse). After working with at an inpatient oncology unit for over a year, she moved to the critical care environment as a staff nurse and also as an agency nurse for over a decade at various local hospitals. She has ben pursuing an advanced degree at the University of Maryland. Dawn joined the Lymphedema & Rehabilitation Center team in February 2011, participating in the coordinating of care with patients who have multiple medical issues and serves an important role patient education on minimizing lymphedema risk.
Kristen Wrzesien Office ManagerKristen Wrzesien graduated from Towson University in 2009 with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Kristen's work experience since 2003 includes roles as a marketing research analyst, qualitative assistant and administrative assistant. Kristen ensures consistent coordination of the Center by being a liaison with insurance companies, referring physicians and the medical director of the Lymphedema and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoys introducing new patients to the Lymphedema and Rehabilitation Center and prides herself in providing the best patient service possible.
Angela deBorja, PT, DPT, CLT Administrative AssistantAngela deBorja graduated from University of Richmond in 1998 with a B.S. in Health Science, and from University of Delaware in 2001 with her Master's in Physical Therapy. She obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in May 2009 from the University of Scranton, and completed her lymphedema certification from Klose Training and Consulting, LLC in April 2009. After Angela's experience in inpatient acute care and rehab, wound care, brain injury, and lymphedema, she joined the team at GBMC in March 2012. Her past experience in wound care has included pulsatile lavage with suction, selective debridement, inpatient surveillance wound rounds, and the management of venous, diabetic, and surgical wounds and pressure ulcers. In addition to her expert, individualized approach to patients with lymphedema, her interest, experience, and expanded coursework in wound care is a valuable asset to the program.
