As of July, 2015, there are 703 graduates from GBMC's internal medicine program. They span the globe and have pursued a wide range of careers. GBMC alumni are involved with supporting our residents through fund raising and networking. In June, 2011, a council of interested alumni was formed to direct the creation of a formal network to support these activities. Their goals are to have a list of interested alumni who are willing to speak to residents about specific career options, geographic networking for rotations, and research project mentoring. A grateful patient fund has been established to provide specific grants to help fund resident projects.
Additionally, the alumni are creating new options for communicating with each other. Currently we have a face book page, http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=96940657440 . We also have a more secure social networking site where are posting annual year books, and information that you might want to protect from the wider facebook community. The site is called yammer, and is by invitation only, open to all GBMC alumni. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll send you an invitation. We welcome contributions to these sites and welcome other ideas for how they might assist alumni in staying connected with each other. Upcoming alumni events and news are posted on the facebook and yammer pages.
