David J. Hynson

David Hynson joined GBMC HealthCare system in May 2009 as Director of Management Information Systems and in November of 2012 was named Interim Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Hynson has more than three decades of experience in healthcare technology. His responsibilities include the implementation and support of all of GBMC's information systems including the organization's four core systems - Meditech, eClinical Works, Lawson and Cerner (Gilchrist Hospice), as well as oversight of an annual operating software budget of $3 million and total MIS/Telecommunications operating budget exceeding $12 million.

While at GBMC, Hynson has worked on a number of significant healthcare IT initiatives, including Meaningful Use Stage 1, Meaningful Use Stage 2, Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), Meditech Physician Documentation, Enterprise Document Management, new wireless voice implementation, and eCW/Meditech integration.

A resident of Howard County, MD, Hynson has previously held positions with Catholic Health Initiatives / St. Joseph Medical Center and with Daughters of Charity National Health System – East (Ascension Health).

Hynson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and a Masters of Administrative Science from The Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in Business. His professional organization memberships include the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the Maryland Chapter of HIMSS.
