Nursing staff throughout the GBMC HealthCare system (main hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Associates (GBMA), Gilchrist Services or home-based/in the field) are invited to apply or nominate a colleague for any of the six awards noted by clicking the associated links. Non-nursing staff members throughout the organization are encouraged to submit nominations to recognize a nursing colleague as well.

Please consider the following guidelines when applying or nominating individuals for any of these awards:
- Personal reputation as an outstanding member of the GBMC HealthCare clinical team
- Has been instrumental in the enhancement of GBMC's reputation
- Is credited as a "best in the field” within their discipline area
- Advanced GBMC organizational mission through their clinical work
- No active corrective actions
- All nurses are eligible to apply
This award has been established to recognize an individual or a group of nursing staff who enhance integration and inclusion at GBMC HealthCare. Examples can be based on creating a positive environment for coworkers and/or patients and families.
Nominees for the Clinical Assistant Support Award should demonstrate dedication to a team approach to care delivery. In addition they should embody exceptional work ethic and exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills and a courteous nature. Candidates for the award include outstanding nursing support technicians, certified nursing assistants, geriatric nursing assistants, certified medical assistants, and multi-function technicians.
The nurse clinician of the year award will be presented to the recipient that exhibits innovation, strong communication skills, expertise and personal attributes that contribute to the delivery of quality patient care. They must also demonstrate that they are a leader in the field of nursing while sharing in GBMC HealthCare's organizational vision, mission and values.
GBMC HealthCare recognizes excellence in implementing nursing research in the practice setting by awarding the Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Award. This award is given to an individual or group using research-based evidence to make a practice change that results in demonstrated improvement in outcomes for the patient and family, staff, community or organization.
The Baetjer Nursing Graduate of the Year Award shall be awarded to a recently graduated individual that is within his or her first two years of Registered Nurse licensure.
Patient- and family-centered care is at the heart of GBMC Healthcare's Vision, "To every patient, every time, we will provide the care that we would want for our own loved ones." This award was established to recognize those nurses whose practice exemplifies effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team, and who regard the patient/family as the most important team members. This nurse understands that each patient and their family have highly individualized needs and abilities and applies that knowledge when providing patient education and care coordination.
