Amanda Hoover -
"I can honestly say that I have always wanted to be a Nurse- what I never knew was how much Nursing would become a part of who I am. I graduated from a 4-year college and came directly to GBMC where I have worked in the Emergency Department for nearly five years. I have seen the hospital evolve over the past few years and I can truly say that nursing is at its prime here at GBMC. There is something special about the people I work with- you could say that because we work so intimately with each other in a high stress area to better our patients' lives, we have become a second family to each other.
I have the privilege of working side by side with some of the most intelligent, compassionate, hard-working people I have ever met. I like that there are opportunities to grow and become involved in both unit and hospital based initiatives- it is a great feeling to know that we as nurses are able to take control of our practice and affect positive change. I see the great impact that becoming a "nurse's hospital" has had on my colleagues, and I like the way we are heading. My co-workers would agree. With the shortage of nurses, we have many choices about where we will work. I see myself working here for years to come. I am proud to say that I am a Nurse and I work at GBMC."
