Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) offers several positions for nursing students who are interested in working in an acute care hospital setting. Nursing Student I's and II's function as Certified Nursing Assistants and receive clinical assignments on nursing units.
To be eligible, students must be certified as Nursing Assistants by the Maryland Board of Nursing and possess a current CPR card. Applicants must have completed at least one clinical rotation in their nursing program.

The Nursing Externship Program sessions are offered in the Spring, Summer, and Fall each year. Summer Nursing Externs work 36-40 hours per week for 8-10 weeks and follow their assigned Nursing Preceptor's work schedule. In the Spring and Fall sessions, Externs work less hours - at least 24 hours per month for 8-10 weeks. The number of Externship positions offered at GBMC is limited and students must reapply for each new session.
This scholarship is available for students who are preparing for a career in nursing. Scholarships are available to GBMC employees to support their undergraduate schooling.
Nursing student rotations at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) are designed to provide nursing students in various stages of their nursing education with exciting opportunities to learn first hand from our expert clinical staff. Under the supervision of a clinical instructor, students are guided through clinical experiences that provide enhancement of clinical skills that prepares them for their role as a registered nurse.
