John Ellis joined the executive staff of GBMC HealthCare in July 2006 as senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development and serves as a member of the GBMC Executive Team. A 33-year veteran of healthcare management, Mr. Ellis is responsible for business development, corporate strategy, managed care, physician relations and Greater Baltimore Medical Associates, an employed physician enterprise.
Prior to joining GBMC, Mr. Ellis served as vice president of operations and as regional director of business services for Radiologix, Inc., the largest vendor of radiology services in Maryland with 23 centers and 85 physicians. Mr. Ellis has also held positions at St. Joseph Medical Center (executive vice president - finance and administration and chief financial officer/treasurer); at Maryland General Hospital (chief financial officer/treasurer); Sinai Hospital (assistant vice president/controller) and Lee Hospital in Johnstown, Pennsylvania (controller).
Mr. Ellis holds an ongoing appointment as Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa. and is a certified public accountant.
Mr. Ellis is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He and his wife reside in Ellicott City, Maryland.
