GBMC annually ranks as the busiest labor and delivery unit in Central Maryland and one of the busiest in the state. Maryland Family Magazine has selected GBMC as Baltimore's Best for the past seven years.
In addition to the services provided in Labor & Delivery, we provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies, which includes a 12-bed antepartum high-risk unit, prenatal diagnostics providing pre-conception genetic counseling and an outpatient diagnostic testing center.
We provide family centered care in our 48-bed post partum unit located adjacent to our 60-bed newborn nursery. We maintain a separate well baby nursery to accommodate the needs of our moms. Lactation services are provided to our mothers, inpatient and outpatient, as well as through the GBMC Warm Line.
GBMC's Level III+ neonatal intensive care unit is one of seven such units statewide designated by the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Service Systems as a referral center. Physician specialists, including board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and registered nurses provide round-the-clock care in our 30-bed NICU for neonates from birth to discharge.
Parent Education, doula services and retail lactation services are also available.
