Howard Birenbaum, MDHoward Birenbaum, MD
Director, Neonatology

Dr. Howard Birenbaum is the Director of Neonatology at GBMC. He also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and as an instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He's board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics. He received his medical degree from the New York University Medical Center, completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at The New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center.


Sabah Helou, MDSabah Helou, MD
Director, Newborn Nursery

Dr. Sabah Helou is the Director of the Newborn Nursery and a neonatologist in the NICU. He's board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics. He received his medical degree from the University of Aleppo, completed his residency at the Medical Center of Delaware and completed his fellowship in neonatology at Johns Hopkins.




Maria Pane, MDMaria Pane, MD
NICU and Newborn Nursery Neonatologist

Dr. Maria Pane is a neonatologist in the NICU and Newborn Nursery. She's board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her residency at Children's National Medical Center and her fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Center.
