To help patients keep track of their appointments and care information, the oncology support team recently introduced a new patient handbook, a valuable resource that provides general information about the Cancer Institute and all of its services. This handbook is the first one of its kind for cancer centers in the Baltimore region.
This handbook is functional as well as informational, containing calendar pages for keeping track of appointments, areas to record test results and treatment plans, spaces where patients can insert business cards of medical oncologists and other Cancer Institute contacts and provides space for medical instructions. In addition, it includes a helpful glossary of the most common cancer terms for patient reference.
The handbook was made possible in part by generous supporters, including a donation from GBMC's Volunteer Auxiliary and the Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation.
