The Director of Spiritual Support and the Office of Spiritual Support Services welcome you to Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
During your visit we pray you will encounter healing and peace, as you experience support and reassurance.
- To journey, pray and be present with you.
- To encourage healing when your spirit is stretched.
- To offer religious services and times for worship according to your religious belief.
On many units, our Spiritual Support Team will visit you soon after your admission. During the visit, there may be times you may want to share your spiritual needs or prayer intentions during your time with us. We are available upon request as well._MG_9368.JPG.jpg)

The Chaplain and the Spiritual Support team are dedicated to bringing spiritual and emotional reassurance to you and your family during your hospital stay.
We believe that one of the greatest gifts we can provide for you is listening. Short periods of quiet companionship may offer opportunities for you to express your concerns. 
At your request, your Pastor/Rabbi/Priest or Imam can be notified of your hospitalization. A visit may be arranged from your denominational representative. With your permission we will be glad to contact you spiritual leader to request a visit.
A Catholic Communion Service is celebrated on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the Hospital Chapel, near the Main Lobby. If you have registered as a Catholic, a Eucharistic minister will visit you offering The Eucharist on a daily basis. The service is broadcast live on the Spiritual Channel 3.
A Protestant Communion Service is celebrated on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel, near the Main Lobby. Communion will be distributed to patients in their rooms upon request following the service. The service is broadcast live on the Spiritual Channel 3.
Jewish Shabbat Prayers are available on Fridays in the Chapel upon request.
Moslem Friday Prayer is available at 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. every Friday in the chapel.
Various religious celebrations and seasonal services are held throughout the year.
Spiritual Support Services is pleased to offer the Wednesdays at Noon Concert series in honor of Elma Donovan, through the generosity of the, Board of the Hospital for the Women of Maryland, Baltimore City, on the second Wednesday of the month. Concerts are performed in the chapel or the Baetjer OB Entrance of the hospital. The concerts are available to our patients, visitors and staff. Concerts and recitals are broadcast throughout the hospital on the Spiritual Channel 3.
GBMC Spiritual Support Services has created a center for training community clergy and lay leadership in the tools needed for effective ministry to the sick. Under the guidance of the GBMC Spiritual Advisory Board and approval of GBMC leadership, the Center of for Spiritual Support Training welcomes students for a period of 8-10 weeks of immersion. Students share in-group and individual supervision as part of their experience. At the conclusion of their training students have a variety of options for next steps. Continue to the next level of training within steps: continue to the next [lower case n] level of training within the center, consider going for further graduate studies in chaplaincy or pursue Clinical Pastoral Education within our community.
We can provide you with free devotional literature, Bibles, the Koran, Book of the Psalms and other resource materials to encourage insights in your faith journey.
In our busy, distracting world there are times when we hunger for a quiet, safe place to be alone for prayer and reflection. The Chapel may be that place for you to come away and rest awhile. Located on the third floor near the Main Lobby, the Chapel is open 24-hours-a-day for personal and devotional prayer.
