New Patient Handbook Keeps Patients on Track
To help patients keep track of their appointments and care information, the oncology support team recently introduced a new patient handbook, a valuable resource that provides general information about the cancer center and all of its services. This handbook is the first of its kind for a cancer center in the Baltimore region.
The handbook is functional as well as informational, containing calendar pages for keeping track of appointments, areas to record test results and treatment plans, spaces where patients can insert business cards of medical oncologists and other Cancer Center contacts and provides space for medical instructions. In addition, it includes a helpful glossary of the most common cancer terms for patient reference.
The handbook was made possible in part by generous supporters, including a donation from Thai One On in the amount of $9,000, an $8,000 donation from the GBMC Volunteer Auxiliary and $7,500 from the Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation.
