GBMC HealthCare
Continuing Medical Education Mission Statement
In keeping with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center's commitment to excellence as expressed in the Medical Center's Quality Assurance Program and the Medical Center's Mission Statement, the CME Department will strive to expand the knowledge, skills, and clinical outcomes of the participating physicians while promoting life-long medical learning.
The role of the advisory committee is policy and direction. Responsibility for compliance with the essentials is held by the CME Coordinator and content responsibility is based on Departmental Chairman approval. The advisory committee's operating philosophy is to provide state-of-the-art programs that will allow the Medical Center and its physicians to remain at the cutting edge of medical science to the benefit of the patients.
Programs will include topics within the general scope of the practice of medicine, as well as subjects which are recognized areas of special expertise at GBMC. Most programs will serve the Mid-Atlantic region, however, where appropriate, programs will be marketed nationally.
The occasion may arise when it would be advantageous to joint sponsor with a group or individual not nationally accredited. In this situation, GBMC will joint sponsor with programs which are consistent with GBMC's CME Mission Statement.
Programs will be developed for the practicing physicians and other health care providers in the Mid-Atlantic region with some local and national audiences.
Programs will consist of lectures and Q/A sessions with hands-on didactics as appropriate for the objectives of the program. These will range from regularly scheduled programs to one to multi-day programs.
