Faculty Bios

Program Director: George Y. Apostolides, M.D.
George Y. Apostolides, M.D. was born in Beirut Lebanon. He received his Medical School Degree from the French Faculty of Medicine in Beirut in 1976.  From 1976 tp 1977 Dr. Apostolides spent one year of postgraduate training and received a Certificate of Tropical Medicine from the University of Paris, Descartes. From 1977 to 1979 he completed his internship in general surgery at University of Maryland Hospital.  He then completed his surgical residency at St. Agnes Hospital in 1982.  Dr. Apostolides successfully completed a Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 1983, training under Dr. Jack Rosin. Dr. Apostolides is Board-certified in both General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Dr. Apostolides is an active medical staff member at GBMC, St. Agnes Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital.

Associate Director: Francesco Grasso, M.D.
Francesco Grasso, M.D. was born in Rome, Italy, in 1957. He received his Medical School Degree from the University of Rome, where he also completed his surgical internship. After serving in the Army as a Medical Officer, Dr. Grasso continued his training at Booth Memorial Medical Center, under the affiliation of New York University. Subsequently Dr. Grasso completed the Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Dr. Grasso is Board-certified in both General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Dr. Grasso is an active medical staff member at GBMC, St. Joseph Hospital and UCMC.       

Lisa Savoie, M.D.
Lisa Savoie, M.D. was born in Albany, NY. She received her Medical School Degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 1989; Dr. Savoie completed her surgical residency at Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 1995.  Dr. Savoie completed the Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 1996. Dr. Savoie is Board-certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Savoie is an active medical staff member at GBMC, Memorial Hospital and York Hospital.
