From the Chair
When I was nominated to serve as chair for the GBMC Foundation Board, allowing Bill Kroh to step into an even bigger role on the hospital’s HealthCare Board, I knew that I was following a chair who had a strong commitment to the future of GBMC.
Bill chaired the most recent 40th Anniversary Campaign that attracted more than $35 million in support for new construction, major renovations in existing departments of the hospital and the building of endowments for our community programs, like the GBMC Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Community Health Center. We salute Bill for his untiring efforts at helping the hospital surpass its campaign goal and find the charitable resources to realize its vision for the future of health care in our community.
In recognition of Bill’s and his wife Jarnetta’s unwavering support for GBMC through the years, we have decided to name our $10,000 annual giving society in their honor – The William and Jarnetta Kroh Society. Now, others who have battled cancer, or marveled at the medical excellence of their caregivers at GBMC, can become members of the Kroh Society by supporting the hospital with an annual gift at this level. You can read more about the Kroh Society in this issue.
Moreover, you will read about some extraordinarily generous grateful patients and the positive results their substantial contributions have had on GBMC and its role as your community hospital. These dedicated people have supported a myriad of important services and programs, from funding radiation oncology equipment costing in excess of $1.8 million, to giving babies in our Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit access to life-saving equipment, which keeps GBMC at the forefront of specialty care.
All of these donors have made their personal investments because GBMC has in some way made a major impact on their health or that of their family. We invite you to read their personal stories and hope you find it in your own heart to consider investing in GBMC by making a personal gift. You can use the enclosed envelope or call the expert staff at the GBMC Foundation office if you would like to inquire about naming opportunities or, perhaps, to make a planned gift from your estate.
However you become involved, you can rely on GBMC to be there when you need the highest quality of medical care. I hope to be able to thank you in person someday soon. Until then, thanks for your generous gifts that help to keep the “greater” in Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
