Hyperbaric Medicine Center
If you are suffering from decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, a non-healing chronic wound, a crush injury or necrotizing faciitis, hyperbaric medicine can help you achieve improved health. Our facility offers three Sechrist 32" diameter hyperbaric chambers. Our four monoplace chambers are available 24 hours a day for emergency treatment.
Patients receiving hyperbaric medicine inhale 100 percent oxygen, two to three times the atmospheric pressure. Although the concept has been around since the 1950s, and recompression chambers were experimented with as early as the mid-1600s, only within the past 20 years has research shown hyperbaric oxygen to be a powerful medical tool.
Hyperbaric oxygen is safe and effective. The oxygen you inhale enters your bloodstream where it is dissolved into plasma, the liquid part of blood circulation. With significant amounts of concentrated oxygen, your body realizes important benefits:
- Increased blood vessel formation
- Increased oxygen delivery to hypoxic/ischemic tissues
- Increased healing of the wounds
- Reduced swelling
- Reduced infection
- Preservation of compromised tissue
- Stimulation of new bone formation
- Decreased size of life-threatening air bubbles in the blood
- Reduced effect of specific toxic substances
