GBMC Adds OB/GYN Specializing in Adolescent Care

BALTIMORE – February 6, 2006 – Laura Maciel Erdman, M.D., an OB/GYN specializing in adolescent care, has joined Charles Street OB/GYN Associates and the medical staff at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Dr. Erdman will see female patients – age 13 and older – both at GBMC, in the Charles Street OB/GYN office located in Physicians Pavilion East Suite 212, and in the practice’s Hunt Valley office, 10155 York Road Suite 205 (Crestridge Center).

“Being an OB/GYN truly allows me to do a little bit of everything when it comes to practicing medicine and taking care of patients,” said Dr. Erdman, who received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  “I especially enjoying delivering babies because that’s a really unique situation we can share with the parents.”

Dr. Erdman enjoys focusing on adolescent patients “because they are a changing population with many special needs.”

“Many adolescents don’t necessarily want to go to the same GYN as their mothers do, and building trust early on is essential to ensure a continuity of care during their lives.  It’s also especially important with pre-teens and teenagers to talk about certain preventive health measures and how they can stay healthy.”

Dr. Erdman is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she is also a diplomate.  She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is an active member of the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi).  Dr. Erdman holds an appointment as instructor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and has served as an assistant professor in the Department of and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Erdman resides in Lutherville with her husband and their four children.
