GBMC Foundation Names Six New Board Members

BALTIMORE, Md. –  December 10, 2007 – The Greater Baltimore Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors has named six new members to the 25-member board, each of whom will serve a three-year term. 

The Board of Directors of the GBMC Foundation manages the GBMC Foundation, which is the fundraising subsidiary of GBMC HealthCare. The GBMC Foundation coordinates several annual fundraising events which provide philanthropic support to meet the needs of the hospital.  These events include the Father’s Day 5K Race, Mercedes Benz car raffle at the Shawan Downs Legacy Chase, the GBMC Golf Classic, and the Perspectives in Medicine dinner/lecture series.

The new board members include:

  • Mary Ellen Barthelme, a Timonium resident and vice president of Bay National Bank.
  • Jennifer Bunkley, Ph.D., a Baltimore City resident and psychologist in private practice in Baltimore City, whose youngest child was born at GBMC.
  • Marilyn Davis, a Cockeysville resident and wife of GBMC neurosurgeon Reginald Davis, M.D.
  • Timothy Doran, M.D., a Baltimore City resident and chairman of pediatrics at GBMC.
  • Edwin (Ted) R. Mowbray III, a Ruxton resident and senior vice president at Ferris, Baker Watts, whose children were born at GBMC. 
  • Joan Wang, M.D., of Cockeysville, a gynecologist in private practice in Sparks, MD and on the medical staff at GBMC, whose sons were born at GBMC.

Founded in 1987, the GBMC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to centralize and coordinate fundraising efforts to benefit GBMC HealthCare. The Foundation executes fundraising events, annual appeals and capital campaigns and seeks gifts and grants from corporations and private foundations.
