GBMC Foundation Inducts New Membership Into Joseph S. Keelty Society

BALTIMORE, Md. – May 12, 2008 – Eleven new individual and corporate members have been inducted into the Greater Baltimore Medical Center’s Joseph S. Keelty Society, a giving society which recognizes philanthropy to GBMC HealthCare and Gilchrist Hospice Care with cumulative gifts of $250,000 or more.

The 2008 inductees into the Keelty Society, which now honors 59 individuals, corporations, and foundations, includes Charles Emergency Physicians; Theophilus and Marie Cover White Memorial Fund; Huether-McClelland Foundation; Deane C. Laycock of Parkville; Legg Mason, Inc.; McCormick and Company, Inc.; Physicians Anesthesia Associates, P.A.; Betsy Retler Richardson of Woodbine; The Rouse Company Foundation; Helen and Keefer Stull of Towson; and Venable LLP.

The Keelty Society is named in honor of local philanthropist and successful businessman, Joesph Keelty, who spearheaded his family’s business and has taken a special interest in supporting health care, his church, education, and the welfare of disadvantaged youth.

The Keelty Society Induction was held at the Maryland Club and hosted by the GBMC Foundation.  Mr. Keelty is a member of the board of directors of the Gilchrist Hospice Care, a subsidiary of GBMC.

Founded in 1987, the GBMC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to centralize and coordinate fundraising efforts to benefit GBMC HealthCare. The Foundation executes fundraising events, annual appeals and capital campaigns and seeks gifts from grateful patients and other friends of GBMC HealthCare, as well as grants from corporations and private foundations. The Foundation does not have any affiliation with federated funds or public agencies, instead relying on the generous financial support of people across Maryland and beyond. The GBMC Foundation is registered with the state of Maryland as an approved charitable organization.
