The Department of Medicine has approximately 400 members involved in every aspect of medical care. Aided by access to the sophisticated technology, multi-disciplinary resources and an ongoing research program, the members of the Department are committed to providing the highest quality of care.
As part of the educational mission of the Department and GBMC, we have a residency program consisting of 44 physicians in training and eight core faculty members. A description of the program can be found on the section labeled "Internal Medicine Residency Program." Each faculty member maintains an active practice in addition to teaching on the inpatient units and in the outpatient clinic.

Internal Medicine Residency Program
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education since 1965, the year that GBMC was founded.
Ophthalmology Residency Program
The Department of Ophthalmology at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) provides a training opportunity conforming to the requirements of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the Residency Review Committee (RRC) for Ophthalmology.
