Ultrasound

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a diagnostic study used to examine internal structures of the body.  It uses sound waves, much like those used in Navy sonar.  No radiation is involved.  These high frequency sound waves have been used to assess the progress of fetal development, to evaluate internal organs, and to evaluate circulation of blood vessels.  The use of diagnostic ultrasound is painless, easy, and has no lasting effects.
