PELVIC SONOGRAM
Your doctor has recommended that you undergo a test in our Ultrasound department today called a pelvic sonogram.
What Is A Pelvic Sonogram?
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a diagnostic study used to examine internal structures of the body. It uses sound waves, much like those used in Navy sonar. No radiation is involved. These high frequency sound waves have been used to assess the progress of fetal development, to evaluate internal organs, and to evaluate circulation of blood vessels. The use of diagnostic ultrasound is painless, easy, and has no lasting effects. A pelvic sonogram evaluates the uterus, ovaries, appendix, and adjacent structures. If the physician feels further detail must be acquired, then it is possible that a transvaginal exam will be added to the pelvic study.
Is There Any Preparation For This Procedure?
