VENOUS DOPPLER
Your doctor has recommended that you have a test in our Vascular Laboratory called a Venous Doppler study.
What Is A Venous Doppler Study?
A Venous Doppler examination uses an ultrasound equipment to see veins and check the blood flow. There are no needles used, no dye or X-rays. This test is painless. The equipment bounces sound waves off of your veins to make a picture that shows the size and shape of your vessels.
Does The Patient Need To Do Anything Before This Test?
No. The patient will have warm gel put on their leg or arm and a probe (which looks like a fat pencil) will gently go over this gel at different places. You may be asked to hold your breath and we may squeeze your leg.
How Long Will This Test Last?
One arm/one leg tested - one hour.
Both arms/both legs - two hours.
When Will My Doctor Get The Results Of My Exam?
Once your test is finished, either a Radiologist or a Vascular Surgeon will read the test and a report will be typed and sent to your doctor the following day.
