Senior Services: Gilchrist Hospice Center

Gilchrist Hospice Center offers compassionate, personalized care provided to individual and their loved ones facing a life-limiting illness.  By offering a full range of services, Hospice helps patients in the advanced stages of illness live each day to its fullest, in most cases in the comfort of their own home.  Services include:

  • Pain control
  • Symptom relief
  • Nursing care
  • Home Health Aides
  • Counseling
  • Spiritual support and other services

All Gilchrist Hospice Center staff and volunteers work as part of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and assess each patient’s personal needs and choices.  Through ongoing evaluation of a patient’s changing care needs, the Hospice team can effectively anticipate and address problems as they arise, benefiting patients and families alike.

While most terminally ill patients want to remain at home or place of residence, others may need inpatient care.  As a general guideline, patients are admitted to the Gilchrist Center when symptoms of their disease – pain, dementia, delirium, breathlessness, and other conditions – require more intense medical interventions.

Gilchrist Center is a 24-bed inpatient hospice facility located on the GBMC campus.  The Center features a warm, home-like environment were patients can participate to the fullest extent possible in the normal activities of life with family members and friends.
