With 17 rooms, GBMC's General Surgical Suites are among the busiest in the state.  Surgeons are board-certified in a vast array of specialties including:

  • Otolaryngology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Urology
  • Gynecology
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurology

  • General, Vascular, and Thoracic, Pediatric, Plastic, Colon-Rectal, and Podiatry surgeries. 

Nurses and staff have advanced training and certifications as well.

For patient convenience, all operating room functions are centralized so that pre-admission, admitting, pre- and post-anesthesia care and the operating rooms are close to one another.  Two pre-op/recovery rooms are specially designed for children and contain toys, a VCR, and a play wagon to transport children to the OR.  A Family Liaison Program provides communication and support to families and friends in the waiting area while a loved one is in surgery.
