GBMC's Preferred Stay Program:
This program is a "post recovery" program. It begins after your recovery from surgery, which can take up to six hours. Then, as a "Preferred Stay" guest, you'll be taken to your own private room. Our nurses will monitor your progress and assist you with pain control while you relax. Preferred Stay is a self-pay program--not covered by insurance--so we've kept the program very affordable and priced according to how many hours you require. For Your Information:
Visitor Guidelines for Patients Staying Overnight - Visitors are an important part of your recovery. Our intensive care unit has specific visiting hours to ensure that patients receive the appropriate rest. All units support family members visiting patients as it can aid in the healing process. GBMC cannot accept responsibility for child care during your hospital stay overnight in the Medical Center. Please make arrangements for child care prior to your admission.

Advance Directives - Federal law requires that hospitals tell patients of their rights to make their own decisions about their medical care. This includes the right to accept or refuse medical treatment and the right to prepare "Advance Directives." If you have an advance directive, bring it with you to the hospital.

Smoking Policy - Like other Maryland hospitals, GBMC is a non-smoking hospital. For the health and safety of our patients, visitors, and staff, we ask that you and your guests refrain from smoking at GBMC.

Security - GBMC employs a full-time security force to supervise entrances, parking, lost and found, and the protection of people, equipment and valuables. Security may be reached at 443-849-2222.
