About the Program:
This two-day course is designed for the speech-language pathologist working with patients who have undergone a total laryngectomy and tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP). The course focuses exclusively on management of the TEP including InHealth and Provox prostheses. Participants will have extensive hands-on training with models and patients.
Program Objectives:
- Become familiar with the evolution of TEP. Learn basic anatomy and physiology related to TEP.
- Identify and become familiar with various models of voice prostheses and tracheostoma valves.
- Demonstrate safe and accurate measurement of the TEP tract.
- Demonstrate safe and accurate insertion of the TEP voice prostheses.
- Identify potential problems associated with the TEP and determine possible solutions to these problems.
