Information Desk Clerk
In support to the hospital, the information desk clerk greets patients, families, visitors, staff and other volunteers approaching the information desk, provides directions and other assistance as needed, answers patient information phone lines, coordinates the distribution of visitor passes for secure locations.
- Greet patients, families, employees, visitors and other volunteers.
- Provide directions and other assistance as needed.
- Answer patient information phone lines in accordance with policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and release of patient information.
- Transfer calls to patient rooms as requested.
- Work effectively with others without direct supervision.
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate information orally.
- Ability to use keyboard, PC monitor and telephone.
- Attention to detail in an environment where public contact is constant.
This position description briefly describes this role's responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as determined to support the hospital. All volunteers are required to (a) notify designated staff member of any absences; (b) sign in and out when reporting to and leaving their volunteer assignment; (c) conform to established dress code including wearing hospital-issued name badge; (d) maintain confidentiality; and (e) adhere to annual compliance requirements as set forth by GBMC and its regulatory agency.
