Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) Volunteer

In support to the hospital, the PACU volunteer assists the PACU staff in providing clerical services, serves as liaison with the family waiting volunteers to keep the family informed of schedule and location changes, and provides the opportunity when appropriate for the family to visit the patient.

  • Responsibilities:

    -Maintain an up-to-date daily general operating room schedule.
    -Communicate patient arrival and departure times to family waiting volunteers and nursing areas.
    - Handle phone responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and release of patient information.

This position description briefly describes this role's responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as determined to support the hospital.  All volunteers are required to (a) notify designated staff member of any absences; (b) sign in and out when reporting to and leaving their volunteer assignment; (c) conform to established dress code including wearing hospital-issued name badge; (d) maintain confidentiality; and (e) adhere to annual compliance requirements as set forth by GBMC and its regulatory agency.
