Greater Baltimore Medical Center Obstetrics Services


The Birth Experience at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center

 Labor and Delivery Suite

  • 4 triage rooms
  • 17 LDR suites
  • 3 Operating rooms
  • 5-bed PACU
  • Provides care to adult and adolescent women. 
  • Most frequent procedures performed in L/D are cesarean section and vaginal birth. L/D has the capability to perform postpartum tubal ligations, D&Cs and emergency hysterectomies. Outpatient surgical procedures, such as D&C or cervical sutures, are performed.
  • Staffed by registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistant, nursing support technicians, nurse helpers, clinical nursing students, unit secretaries, clinical manager and clinical partner.
  • Services are provided twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Unit 25/26 (Postpartum) 

  • 48 beds 
  • Provides care to adult and adolescent women. 
  • The unit specializes in postpartum care following a cesarean section or a vaginal delivery.
  • Staffed by registered nurses, nurse practitioners, nursing support technicians, nurse helpers, clinical nursing students, unit secretaries, clinical manager and clinical partner.
  • Services are provided twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
