Greater Baltimore Medical Center Obstetrics Services

Tour of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Obstetrics Area

It begins when you enter GBMC through a separate, private   Obstetrics Entrance.

.

The   lobby courtyard   provides convenient admitting for laboring mothers and a comfortable family waiting area

From there, you'll be escorted to a   labor-delivery room suite. Greater Baltimore Medical Center's state-of-the-art Obstetrics Center is not only comfortable and convenient, it is supported by the latest in medical science and technology. It features 17 spacious, beautiful labor-delivery-recovery suites, creating a home-like atmosphere without compromising safety. Instead of being taken from one room to another, you'll be able to stay in the suite through the entire birth process and relax with your newborn during the initial recovery period following birth.

As an added reassurance, GBMC also has a   Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which is a regional referral center for premature and critically ill newborns. GBMC's family-centered approach continues during recovery. Your baby will remain with you when medical signs are stable. If necessary, your baby may be taken to the Newborn Nursery for further medical attention and join you later.

Following the initial recovery period, you will be taken to a postpartum room. Your newborn is welcome to stay with you, but GBMC also recognizes that mothers need to sleep, shower and take a few minutes for themselves. At any time you are welcome to send your baby to the Newborn Nursery.
