With Halloween a few weeks away, now is a good time for parents to remember the importance of protecting their kids' eyes from the use of cosmetic contact lenses. Kids who want to look like their favorite movie star or singer, or have the perfect look for their Halloween costume, will want to change the appearance of their eyes with cosmetic contact lenses which could cause a lot of damage to their eyesight.
Over-the-counter cosmetic contact lenses have become popular in novelty shops and are easily purchased online, but Dr. Allison Jensen, a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist with GBMC Health Partners, wants to remind parents about the value of protecting their child’s eyes against serious injuries or infections resulting from wearing cosmetic, or decorative, contact lenses.
