April Ruffin, MD, is a board-certified hospitalist at GBMC. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, completed an internship in General Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed both an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama.

During residency, she distinguished herself in leadership by serving on the Resident Council and Evidence-Based Practice Committee. While serving on these committees she helped improve resident wellness, the graduate education curriculum, and community service endeavors. She also served as part of a multidisciplinary team that developed strategies to make changes in clinical practice. Dr. Ruffin began her career as a hospitalist at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

In addition to patient care, she is looking forward to working to improve physician wellness, finding long-lasting solutions to healthcare disparities in the community, and improving community health overall.

Hospitalists at GBMC attend to patients on hospital units and are not available for outpatient appointments.
