Jennifer Townsend, MD, is an infectious disease physician at GBMC Health Partners Infectious Diseases. Dr. Townsend earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Infectious Diseases. She is board-certified in both of these disciplines. Prior to joining GBMC, Dr. Townsend served as an infectious disease clinician at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
She has coauthored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has clinical interests in the treatment of bone and joint infections including prosthetic joint infections, wound infections, and diabetic foot infections. Dr. Townsend also serves as a member of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC), a group of working clinical professionals that make recommendations on the hospital use of procalcitonin and other biomarkers in patient care.
