Joan Blomquist, MD, is the Chief of the Division of Urogynecology at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University. She received her undergraduate degree from Grinell College and medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Blomquist completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh and went on to complete a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Her primary area of research interest is the impact of childbirth on the pelvic floor. She is also actively involved in global health work. She has worked with the International Development for Women and Development since 2005, participating in mission trips to Niger, Vietnam, and Rwanda, and has served on the organization's medical board since 2009.
