Karoll J. Cortez, MD, MHS, FACP, is an infectious disease physician at GBMC Health Partners Infectious Diseases. Dr. Cortez earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, in Caracas, Venezuela, and is board-certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She then received further training during her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Cortez also holds a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences from Duke University.
Prior to joining GBMC, she worked in the Office of Product Evaluation and Quality at the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Cortez has been published in several peer-review journals. Her clinical interests include general and transplant infectious diseases, clinical trials, and regulatory science.
