GBMC Mourns Loss of Board Member, Ted Mowbray

December 20, 2021
Edwin R. “Ted” Mowbray, former member of the GBMC Foundation Board and Philanthropy Committee, died at his Ruxton home December 15. He was 77.

A graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and then-Loyola College, Ted had served on the GBMC Foundation Board since 2007. Ted’s gregarious nature, infectious laugh and smile won him many friends in Baltimore and around the nation. Most recently, Ted brought to bear his years of experience in the financial industry for GBMC serving on the Gift Planning Advisory Board, Finance Committee and as Treasurer for the GBMC Philanthropy Committee.

Over his career in finance, Ted worked in various leadership roles at Legg Mason, Ferris Baker Watts, RBC Wealth Management and Folger Nolan Fleming and Douglas. Working closely with the GBMC financial team, Ted provided insight and helpful guidance that promoted transparency and clarity of financial reports.

Ted is survived by his wife, Becky, and their two adult children, Jennifer Barta and Brad Mowbray, as well as five grandchildren. The Mowbrays have been perennial members of GBMC’s William and Jarnetta Kroh Society and Virginia Sherwood Council. They have also been loyal supporters of GBMC's Golf Classic as well as other events. The Pink Garden celebrating breast cancer survivors makes its home at GBMC thanks to Becky and Ted, who worked together with the Roland Park Garden Club to make it possible.

Ted will be sorely missed at GBMC and in this community. He represented a special blend of experience, expertise, kindness and friendship for all those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Promise Project at GBMC. Checks can be mailed to GBMC Philanthropy, 6701 N. Charles St, Towson, MD 21204 or gifts can be made online. Please call 443-849-2775 with any questions or concerns.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held on an as yet to be determined date (as of December 20).
