Honoring GBMC 'Top Docs'

December 23, 2019
In Baltimore magazine, 110 GBMC doctors in 65 specialties have been chosen by their peers as the region's best doctors. More than 13,000 physicians were surveyed on where they send their family for the best care, and it's safe to say they agree on the skill and compassion found at GBMC.

GBMC would like to pay special recognition to Neal Friedlander, MD, who retired this year after 21 years of service. Dr. Friedlander was named Chairman of the Department of Medicine by the GBMC Board of Directors in 2006, and was instrumental in his commitment to healthcare, residents and serving the community through philanthropy.

As a member of the GBMC Philanthropy Committee and the Gilchrist Board of Directors, Dr. Friedlander played a large role in expanding the Hunter Wilson Resident Lecture Series and engaging other physicians in the importance of fundraising.

His work with Gilchrist Center Baltimore goes back to its days as independently-owned Joseph Richey House where Dr. Friedlander was one of Joseph Richey's volunteer doctors for several years at the height of the AIDS crisis in Baltimore City.
