What is your role at Venable?
Todd Gustin: I am a partner in the corporate practice group at Venable LLP. My clients include private and public companies and their investors in the healthcare, life sciences, hospitality, technology, financial services, professional services and education industries.
John Sunder: I am an associate in the corporate practice group at Venable LLP. As a former educator, I am also engaged with advising local early stage education technology companies in Baltimore and am similarly involved as a board member for multiple Baltimore-area nonprofit companies.
Why did you want to be involved with the Father’s Day 5K?
TG: GBMC’s NICU holds a very special place in my heart. Their team of world-class physicians, nurses and staff cared for my infant son at birth for several difficult weeks. We were welcomed into the GBMC and NICU families at that time and today, and my son is a happy and healthy 2-year-old boy as a result of his exceptional treatment.
JS: All four of my children were born at GBMC, and although we were blessed to not personally need the award-winning care of the GBMC NICU, many of our friends did. Getting involved with the Father’s Day 5K will allow my family to give back to GBMC and to honor the men and women of the NICU whose efforts are critical to the family lives of many of our friends.
We are pleased to work together at this year’s event to carry on our firm’s long commitment to serving the hospital and the community it serves.
What do you hope to bring to the event this year?
TG: I hope to continue to build on the event’s incredible success in terms of participants and funds raised so that we can successfully close the event’s third decade. What better way to spend a few early morning hours on a day dedicated to family and loved ones!
JS: I look to build upon the past successes of the event and help turn it into a "must-do" for GBMC families (and other Baltimore area families) on Father’s Day.
