At Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), we have an extraordinary team of nurses who support our mission by providing the highest quality of care and service to every patient who enters our doors. Our nursing team consists of over 1,100 Medical Center nurses and more than 120 Hospice nurses, with an average length of employment of 10 years. They enable us to see more than 23,000 inpatient cases and approximately 52,000 ER visits per year. While we work to provide the best level of care possible each day, we are also devoted to giving back to our community. We’ve formed strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and individuals to promote good health and disease prevention in addition to providing outreach, education, and clinical services to our community.
We are a team of extraordinary healthcare providers who are valued for our clinical skills, critical thinking, and the dedication and commitment we bring to patient care. Nurses collaborate with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team and support the organization’s mission by providing the highest quality nursing care to each patient.
It is predicted that by the year 2025, the United States will have a shortage of more than 12,000 nurses at the bedside. This national nursing shortage has been the impetus for GBMC to think outside the box in our recruitment and retention of nurses. With so many choices for healthcare employment in the Baltimore area, and more volume in our system than ever before, it was time to get creative.
Six of GBMC HealthCare’s outstanding nurses have been recognized in Baltimore magazine’s 2018 “Excellence in Nursing” issue! Nominations were collected from across the region and 50 winners in 21 specialties were selected by a panel of nurse advisors. GBMC is extremely proud of all its caregivers and congratulates the following nurses on their well-deserved honor:
