GBMC HealthCare is aware of a scam involving emails and texts that impersonate MyChart and advertise a “MyChart Medicare Kit” or “Senior Health Package.”

These messages are not from GBMC, and there is no indication that GBMC or MyChart has been hacked. Scammers are using the MyChart name to make their messages appear legitimate.

If you receive one of these messages, delete it. Do not click any links or buttons, including an “unsubscribe” link, and do not forward the message.

To help protect yourself:

  • Check the sender and website address. Look closely at the full email address and website URL before clicking a link or entering information. Misspellings, extra words or unfamiliar addresses can be signs of a scam.
  • Protect your password and verification codes. GBMC will never ask you to provide your MyChart password or verification codes by phone, text or email. Only enter them through the official MyChart website or app.
  • Be cautious of “free” offers. Messages promising free gifts, prizes or health-related packages in exchange for personal information may be scams. MyChart does not offer giveaways.
  • Never follow computer instructions from an unexpected message. MyChart will not ask you to use keyboard shortcuts or run commands to “verify,” “fix” or “unlock” your account.
  • When in doubt, don’t fill it out. If you have specific questions about a MyChart message, do not enter your login, personal, or payment information. Contact your provider’s office for assistance.
