Following the complex daily regimens of cancer treatment can be draining for any patient, especially for someone who may need extra assistance. GBMC's Oncology Support Services team provides free counseling, education, and connections to organizations that help patients and families shoulder their burden.
Through their familiarity and expertise with a world of available services, our team can make it possible to access a range of assistance programs such as:


Felicity Kirby, RN, BSN, OCNFelicity works as GBMC's Survivorship Coordinator. She helps patients and families better understand and prepare for life after cancer treatment and assists with any challenges they face during this transition. Felicity received her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Allegany Community College of Maryland and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland.

In addition to these primary services, the Oncology Support Services Center houses a Cancer Resource Center, which is designed to address the vast array of cancer related informational and educational needs of patients and families. It includes:
GBMC staffs a Patient Navigator. This person helps patients and their caregivers access and utilize resources to help with a diagnosis and its associated challenges.
We know the cost of cancer care and other infusion treatments can be stressful. To help, GBMC’s Sandra & Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute is extending its comprehensive financial navigation program for those who are actively receiving cancer treatment or infusions not related to cancer. The program connects you with support such as:
Patients who are receiving cancer therapies or other types of infusion treatments (such as iron or antibody infusion) may receive a call from our team about financial support options. Calls will come from 443-377-3972. These calls are part of our effort to connect you with assistance that can make your care more affordable. This service is free for our patients and will start on September 25, 2025.

Joyce was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer in the summer of 2014, and her journey to recovery had a difficult beginning. She was referred to a local hospital for chemotherapy, but her calls to schedule appointments went unanswered.
