GBMC offers opportunities for nursing students seeking experience in an acute care hospital environment. Positions are available in various inpatient and procedural care areas. Nursing students are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per month and serve as nursing support personnel.
Nurse Extern Program
Nurse Externs work 36- to- 40-hours/week over a nine-week period during the summer months, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse preceptor. This externship program provides nursing students with the opportunity to explore various nursing specialties and gain firsthand experience in patient care within dynamic learning environments.

GBMC is dedicated to fostering the professional development and mentorship of nursing. To further this mission, GBMC provides an extensive array of clinical placement opportunities, enabling nursing students to enhance their knowledge through direct, hands-on experiences.

- Nursing student clinical rotations at GBMC are designed to provide nursing students in various stages of their education with exciting opportunities to learn from our expert clinical staff. Under the supervision of a clinical instructor, students are guided through clinical experiences that provide enhancement of clinical skills and critical thinking in preparation for professional practice entry.

An Affiliation Agreement must be established between the Academic Institution and GBMC to facilitate students' completion of their clinical hours or projects. All students must obtain final approval from the Center of Nursing Excellence prior to their clinical experience.
GBMC employees are prohibited from completing practicum hours or projects within their respective work areas.
