Ann E. Kane, MD, named Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs

GBMC HealthCare today announced Ann E. Kane, MD, as its new Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs. 

Dr. Kane comes from Johns Hopkins, where she served as Vice Chair of Quality for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Children’s Center and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Emergency Medicine, at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. 

A board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician, she has extensive experience leading quality, safety, patient flow, capacity management, and interdisciplinary improvement efforts. Her leadership roles have included Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department, physician lead for mortality and serious safety event reviews, and facilitator of quality and safety councils across the Children’s Center. 

Reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Jack Flowers, MD, FACS, Dr. Kane will help advance clinical excellence, patient safety, medical staff engagement, hospital throughput, clinical documentation integrity, utilization review, and collaboration between medical staff and hospital leadership. These responsibilities are central to the role’s focus on quality, safety, regulatory readiness, operational effectiveness, and stakeholder communication. 

Dr. Kane earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University, completed her pediatrics residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and completed fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital.
